Quartzite cave are different from the classic ones found in karst areas around the World. A sense of ancient is perceived, of return to distant epochs, in rocks that were formed billions of years ago. Quartzite caves are characterized by pinkish colors, with yellowish and brownish rusty veins and plagues. The coexistence of silica with iron hydroxides is common and most probably represent the key to understand their genesis. Those kind of caves are new lands for geological’s and micro-biological’s discoveries.
